In the hundredth year since Shackleton, Crean and Worsley did their epic crossing, the opportunity has been afforded to us to sail to South Georgia, to complete the epic crossing of the island via the Shackleton route and to climb some new peaks. It has all come together at short notice, and we are relishing the challenge and grabbing the reality that we have all dreamed about with both hands.

The trip will involve the team flying to the Falkland Islands to begin their sea journey on the “Spirit of Sydney” a 60’ expedition yacht that has travelled the waters to South Georgia previously. After a few days preparing equipment and supplies, they will depart on a 28 day adventure that will see them travel through a century of landscape that folklore has engrained in our hearts and minds, the story of the Endurance being crushed and sinking, the epic journey in the “James Caird” lifeboat, a journey into the unknown that resulted in the crossing South Georgia before launching on one of the greatest rescues of modern history. Being afforded the opportunity to follow in the footsteps of these legends is the stuff that dreams are made of, and to then visit the great Shackleton’s final resting place before attempting several climbed and unclimbed peaks is something the team have all aspired to for decades.
